Unfortunately, music hasn't been at the forefront of my mind the last few weeks. However, I've managed to finish another song during that time and do something a bit different production wise. It might not work but … who knows, it was fun anyway.
It's called ‘Close To Me’ and, like most of what I do, explores love and death. I quite like the lyrics of this one, so I'll copy and paste them below (even though you haven't heard the song yet).
Cover attached, look out for it in a couple of weeks! (I have to wait a couple of weeks on the off-chance Spotify picks it up and does something magical with it).
Close To Me
Were that I were what I had left,
I know no other way to be.
Come join us sisters in arms,
You’ll go down in history, to me
Your life is just another dream
And I’m just trying to survive.
We’ll build a house around our lives,
Fill it so we can’t fit inside
Self-validation walks on broken hearts,
And I”m not for sale, my god,
Lord Save, Lord say to me,
What we have here, is not gone.
I prayed for, an awful surprise
Abandoned and frail, yet something about you
Say it to me, say it loud, close to me x 4
And everything that i’ve loved dies
Even when they’re still alive
And I have nothing left to cry
But there is hope on its way, I pray
And every soul leaves here bereft,
The price we pay for some rest.
For in the end there’s nothing left
But you and me and our death
